Bulk Tanks & Mixing Masterplan

About the client

An international food producer for major brands and private‑label customers.

Problem statement

As production for this client scaled up, the entire mixing area required reassessment. Rooms needed to be reorganized, installations relocated and additional mixers and supporting equipment added.
Part of the ingredients were supplied in IBCs, but with the increased production volumes, this supply method became an operational bottleneck.

Additionally, raw material was supplied in small melters at each installation, which was no longer ideal from an operational standpoint and therefore had to be redesigned. As a result, there was a clear need to thoroughly optimize both the layout and the logistical and material flows.

Our solution

We developed a complete redesign of the mixing area layout, creating space for the installation of two additional mixers. A new dosing method was created for products previously supplied in IBCs: central storage tanks were introduced to continuously feed all mixers.

This enables bulk delivery by truck and eliminates the need to move IBCs through the production area. For raw material processing, a centralized dosing solution was designed, with large storage tanks replacing the small melters and supplying product directly to the mixers. For the full project, we carried out the budget study, concept study, engineering, and planning, as well as the follow‑up of the implementation.
